I think that this picture is artistically better than putting her in the middle. Good job. Another thing to think about when taking these types of off-center pictures is to get the subject to turn or look towards that empty space even if it is only slightly. With two-year-olds though, we are just happy to have them looking in our general direction, right? :)

Also, Mark, I can tell that you have your flash on. This picture would look even better without the flash. There is a line under her chin from the flash that I can see, and I can also see it in her eyes. Flashes cause harsh shadows and get rid of the soft shadows we want to photograph. I actually use the flash more outdoors than indoors. I would suggest taking the picture again (I really like the framing) and turn the flash off.

One more thing that this picture makes me think about. I see this with Debbie and others as well. Sometimes we don't have a choice. Our kids are being cute, and we try to take a picture. If we relocate them, we have lost the moment. ;) So...aside from that, try and get your subject away from walls and other distracting items. To have the background blurred is ideal. If the background is blurred, it really brings attention to the person/thing you are taking a picture of. So try and move her as far away from the wall as you can...unless of course, that is the look you want. Like the wedding picture of Devin. I liked the texture on the wall.

Those are just some suggestions.
